New Mansoura Medicine organizes a campaign to raise awareness of the problems of obesity
The Faculty of Medicine, New Mansoura University, organized an awareness campaign under the slogan “We will be the butterflies of this spring,” in conjunction with the World Obesity Day launched by the World Health Organization, to raise awareness of the problems and risks of obesity, the diseases that obesity causes to humans, and how to prevent this disease. Illness, with the participation of college deans and a number of students. The closing ceremony was attended by all university employees, and witnessed the organization of the first “marathon” in New Mansoura City, which started in front of the university, in addition to the organization of many student activities, including: (medical examination of students and university employees inside the medical clinic, where weight and height measurements were recorded The body mass index and waist circumference, in addition to measuring blood pressure and blood sugar levels, and educating those who visited the clinic today about obesity and how to prevent it. The students also participated in organizing many awareness and entertainment events and various sports events, in which many university students competed, and through which information was provided about the nature of each activity and the amount of calories burned while practicing it. Among the activities during the day was a healthy food corner. Balanced, where students compose their own meals based on the permitted percentage of calories. The activities witnessed the participation of Dr. Osama Hamdi, Professor of Diabetes at Harvard University, participated in the campaign activities, with a video in which he explains the danger of obesity and its connection to many diseases, explaining the extent of its spread among university students.
