The conclusion of the General Conference of the Association of Arab Universities, which is hosted by the capital, Baghdad, for the first time, with the participation of the President of New Mansoura University
With the participation of Professor Dr. Moawad Muhammad Al-Khouli, President of New Mansoura University, the fifty-sixth session of the Conference of the Association of Arab Universities concluded today, in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Iraq, Professor Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Prof. Dr. Bahaa Ibrahim Ensaf, President of the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Lotfi Belkacem, President of the University of Sousse, Head of the previous session, Prof. Dr. Al-Hadi Belhaj Saleh, President of the University of Monastir, President of the previous session, and more than a hundred Arab academic figures, including university presidents and representatives of Arab scientific organizations, are participating in the conference. The Executive Council of the Union had chosen Professor Dr. Moawad Mohamed Al-Khouly, President of New Mansoura University, to be the general rapporteur of the General Conference of the Union of Arab Universities in its fifty-sixth session.
Over two days, the conference discussed a number of important topics about the reports on the achievements of the General Secretariat of the Union, the implementation of the decisions taken, and the effectiveness of the scientific journal publishing management platform.
Al-Khouli praised the objectives of this course, which were designed according to a scientific vision that covers the various Arab challenges and aspirations in the educational and academic sectors, and includes many important topics, including assessing the magnitude of the challenges facing higher education in the Arab region, proposed and proposed ways to enhance academic cooperation between universities, and sizes. The roles assigned to Arab universities in formulating an Arab academic vision to achieve sustainable Arab development, and that New Mansoura University has many exchange programs and international partnerships that contribute to enhancing the quality of higher education and expanding the cultural and scientific perspective of students.
The Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities, Amr Ezzat Salama, confirmed that “Iraq is one of the founding member states of the Association of Universities, and that the presence of the presidents of Arab universities to participate in the activities of the General Conference, which is hosted by the capital, Baghdad, for the first time, pushes towards greater integration between Arab educational institutions.”
The Secretary-General of the Association of Arab Universities expressed his happiness to host the Executive Council and the General Conference at the University of Baghdad, while revealing thirty requests from Arab universities to join the Union.
Dr. Salama considered the Union of Arab Universities a platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge between Arab universities, through organizing workshops, conferences and training courses. In addition, the Union has promoted digital education and developed distance learning platforms, to provide educational opportunities available to all.
He pointed out that the Union supports scientific research and innovation in Arab universities, by providing resources and financial support to researchers and scientists, and works to enhance international cooperation and partnerships with global universities and educational institutions, to exchange experiences and enhance academic cooperation.
For his part, the President of the University of Baghdad, Bahaa Ibrahim Ensaf, welcomed “the hosting of the Union’s Executive Office and the work of the General Conference, which will provide a positive climate for mutual support and scientific and academic cooperation between Iraqi universities and their Arab counterparts.”
