The Scientific Society of the Faculty of Medicine holds the first general meeting of the branches of scientific societies in the faculties of medicine in Egyptian universities entitled “Disaster Medicine”
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Moawad Mohamed Al-Khouly, President of New Mansoura University and the leadership of Prof. Dr. Hala Al-Marsafawi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, supervised by Prof. Dr. Suzy Fayez, Director of the Medicine and Surgery Program, the first local general meeting of scientific societies was held for this year. It is a meeting that is held twice every semester with the aim of meeting with members of the society and inviting other scientific societies to discuss projects of other societies and topics related to the society’s committees and the cultural exchange of students and knowledge. The Scientific Society of the Faculty of Medicine, New Mansoura University, hosted its first general meeting this year with the participation of members of scientific societies in the faculties of medicine in many Egyptian universities, including Mansoura National University, Delta University of Science and Technology, Horus University, Mansoura University, Damietta University, Azhar University of Damietta, Kafr University. Sheikh, Alexandria University and 6th of October.
University today include several committees:
SCORP - the committee based on human rights and peace
SCOPH - the committee based on public health
SCORA - the committee based on reproductive health and rights
SCOME - the committee based on medical education
The student Reem Ehab from the University Mansoura, in the committee based on human rights and peace, presented a lecture entitled: Introduction to Disaster Medicine, and spoke about the definition of disasters, their types, and the method of predicting them. Student Abdul Rahman Saif from Delta University of Science and Technology also explained the correct way to deal with disasters, and the correct way to manage disasters when the number of victims increases. Student Zain Al-Mikati from Alexandria University participated in the committee based on public health, which was entitled Mental Health After Disasters and Wars, and How to Deal with Mental Health in Wars and Disasters. Student Shaima Nasr from Mansoura University also participated in the committee based on public health by presenting a lecture entitled Unintentional injuries and traffic accidents. Student Ammar Seif and student Yara Abdeen from October 6 University in the committee based on health and reproductive rights presented a lecture on gender-based violence and the health of mothers, children, and pregnant women in disasters. Student Akram Al-Shami from Mansoura University gave a lecture on communication skills and how to prepare a CV for first-year students. Student Saleh Awad in the committee responsible for medical education from Mansoura University gave a lecture on first aid and how to provide aid in disasters. In addition to a virtual conference via the ZOOM application in the presence of students of the Faculty of Medicine at the following university level: Kafr El-Sheikh University, Damietta University, Delta University of Science and Technology, October University, Alexandria University. The lecture was given by Dr. Mohamed Abdel Fattah from America about the opportunities available after graduation and about the steps.
