The President of New Mansoura University witnesses the launch of the University Leadership Program in Hurghada

The Fulbright Commission Egypt hosted the fifth edition of the Egyptian University Leadership Program under the leadership of Professor Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fulbright Commission.

Professor Dr. Moawad Mohamed Al-Khouly, President of New Mansoura University, witnessed the launch of the University Leadership Programme. Organized by the Fulbright Commission, in Hurghada, with the participation of members of its board of directors, Professor Dr. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities, and Mr. Eng. Raymond Miller, founding partner of Raafat Miller Consulting Company.

This event marks the launch of the anniversary celebrations of the founding of the Fulbright Program in Egypt in 1949, and the celebration of 75 years of cooperation and cultural and academic exchange between Egypt and the United States.

This year, the Authority is also celebrating the fifth edition of the Egyptian University Leadership Program, which since 2018 has brought together higher education leaders in Egypt in discussions with American speakers on important topics that included the development of higher education in the global context, technology management, crisis management, and the relationship between universities and their local communities.

Among the honorable audience were 27 presidents and 1 vice president of public and private universities. The university leaders were joined by Professor Dr. Yasser Rifaat, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Abdel Wahab Ezzat, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Private Universities, Professor Dr. Maher Misbah, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Private Universities, and Professor Dr. Diaa Khalil, President of the Fund. Supporting innovators, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Technical and Technological Education, Professor Dr. Walaa Sheta, Chairman of the Science, Technology and Innovation Funding Authority, Professor Dr. Hussein Darwish, President of the National Research Center, and Professor Dr. Gina Al-Feki, Acting President of the Research Academy. Scientific and Technology, Professor Dr. Ayman Farid, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Strategic Planning and Employment, and Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Sharqawi, Assistant Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Policies and Economic Affairs.

The discussion was moderated by Professor Dr. Foster Ari Agbalfour, a Fulbright US Distinguished Scholar for Egypt alumnus and Distinguished Professor of Biological Engineering at the Utah Science, Technology, and Research Initiative and Director of the Center for Bioenergy at Utah State University. This year's edition was titled "From the Laboratory to the Market: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Employment" and discussed strategic planning for effective and influential scientific research, developing research parks to stimulate the economy, entrepreneurship and small companies, and evaluating the impact of research innovations. The discussion was based on successful case studies from different countries.

The university president explained that the university leadership program in Hurghada discusses a number of topics that would contribute to raising the efficiency of university education, such as entrepreneurship and stimulating innovation. And support the idea of establishing business incubators.

Al-Kholy stressed that New Mansoura University is moving steadily towards strengthening partnerships with all institutions. Which promotes the development of higher education; Within the framework of achieving the national strategy for higher education, and the state’s vision according to the new republic.

The Fulbright Program is one of the most competitive and distinguished programs in the world, and one of its goals is cultural exchange between students from different countries with students in the United States of America. This program provides approximately 8,000 grants annually for various programs, and annual funding amounts to approximately $240 million annually.
