The symposium will be lectured by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim El-Sherbiny, professor of nanotechnology, founding head of the Nanoscience Department and Programs, former director of the Materials Science Program, and founding director of the Materials Science Research Center. He is one of the first generation of founders of Zewail City of Science and Technology and former Vice Chairman of the National Committee for New and Advanced Materials Sciences and a member of the Council for Education and Scientific Research Policies. He is a member of the National Nanotechnology Network, a member of the National Committee for Drug Research and Development, a representative of Egypt, and Vice President of the SEP Program of the Board of Directors of the Network of African Academies of Science (NASAC).

The symposium will provide an overview of the field of modern nanomedicine and smart nanomaterials, and will describe the development and evaluation of several new smart nanosystems for various advanced medical applications. The lecture will also cover many applications suitable for all medical sectors (medicine, pharmacy, biomedical sciences, biotechnology, dentistry, veterinary medicine, etc.) in addition to the basic sciences sector.
