Faculty of Textile Science and Engineering programs
Description & Advantages of the Program
- The Textile Engineering Program is an interdisciplinary curriculum drawing on diverse science and engineering principles. Textile Engineering students develop a unique background, which allows them to pursue undergraduate research, summer internship experiences and design projects ranging from artificial blood vessel development to the design of novel water filtration units for remote villages to structures to protect astronauts from radiation while on the moon.
- Textile engineering contains the principles and scientific techniques which are utilized for developing and manufacturing the textile fabrics and all type of yarns. It also involves the study of the principles of science that deal with the analysis of polymers involved in the formation of textile fibres. There are many textile mills across the country. The textile sector plays a role in the growth of Egyptian economy.
Job Opportunities
- The graduate of this program has the opportunity to work in all sections of textile factories as well as research centres both locally and internationally.
Description & Advantages of the Program
- The Polymer and Colour Chemistry Engineering program at the NMU is a unique program in Egypt and addresses the science and technology of the fascinating fields of polymers and colour chemistry. Our students learn the core physical science subjects yet focus on one of a number of important applied chemical textile technology related fields like dyeing, printing and finishing.
- Polymers: In addition to their critical role in all living organisms (proteins, DNA, etc.) polymers are found in most of the materials we use in our daily lives. The TPC program provides education on the chemical engineering of textiles and the uses of polymers as well as their structural feature relationships.
- Colour: Almost all materials are coloured in some way, either by dyeing, printing, packaging, or painting for instance. The chemical, physical and perceptual aspects of colour and their application to textiles are studied.
- A powerful benefit to obtaining a BS in Polymer and Colour Chemistry is its versatility. It allows students to enter a variety of key industries. The choice that the student has to seek employment directly after graduation remains a strong attraction for this degree program.
Job Opportunities
- The graduate of this program has the opportunity to work in all sections of dyeing, printing and finishing of textiles, as well as the preparation of colours for textiles, as well as in research centres, whether locally or internationally.
Description & Advantages of the Program
- The B.S. degree in Apparel Management and Merchandizing (AMM) provides students with the understanding of the development, distribution and marketing of apparel and textile products in today’s global industries. All AMM students learn the fundamentals of the technical and business components of the apparel and textile industries. The degree is industry-focused, with an emphasis on technology application.
- Majoring in Apparel Management and Merchandizing allows you to use your creative juices to design a product that will be appealing to consumers. You will learn about design, product, development, marketing, sales, product quality, consulting, and business ownership. Upon graduation, you will be prepared to create products that appeal to local and global markets.
Job Opportunities
- The graduate of this program has the opportunity to work in the management of textile factories and the sale and promotion of textiles both locally and internationally.
Description & Advantages of the Program
- Our Fashion and Textile Design program melds aesthetic, functional, technical, and expressive appeal, combine cutting edge technologies with traditional design sensitivities, and use of the newest fibres and processes to create innovative textiles and the fashions and other products that use them.
- Choosing to study a fashion and textile design degree is perfect for creative people who have an interest in fashion, clothing and the latest trends. If you have always wanted to design your own clothes, prefer an individual look to what everyone else wears and want to harness your creativity, then a fashion and textile design degree is for you.
- Studying a fashion and textile design degree will give you the design, production and artistic techniques needed to make the most of a career in fashion and textiles. You will develop your ability to use cutting edge machinery, learn about the history of fashion and design a portfolio of work which you will be able to use for future job applications.
